I have admired your strong stand on the War against America's enemies
abroad, but I have long been skeptical of your stands on campaign reform,
judicial nominations, and immigration reform.
Nonetheless, I was prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt in 2008,
as a serious candidate for the Republican nomination. I've worked for
every Republican presidential candidate since Ike in 1956, and would have
been prepared to enthusiastically support you should you have won the
party's nomination.
Your support of the latests immigration "reform" illegal alien amnesty
bill, however, puts you way beyond the pale:
1. The underhandedness of the secrecy with which you and Teddy Kennedy
and others concocted it reminds me of your (too often ignored) role in the
Savings and Loan scandals.
2. The arrogance of your comments to Sen. Cornyn rubs salt in the wounds
to your reputation as a conservative in that abysmal incumbent protection
act known as "McCain-Feingold" that opened the way for George Soros to buy
the Democrats.
3. The contempt you displayed for the American people in your comments
about the need to ram this through in order to avoid "extracurricular
politics" makes you utterly unfit to lead this country.
4. The substance of the proposal, which provides amnesty for millions of
illegal immigrants and will create immeasurable costs to the taxpayers, is
bad enough, but the utter failure of Congress to deliver the results of
last year's proposals on actually securing our borders, makes the promises
to improve security in the current bill mere rodomontade.
So, sorry John. I won't support you for the nomination. Moreover, if you
somehow gull enough Republicans into nominating you, I won't support you.
I'd rather vote for a third party candidate as a protest vote, knowing it
would help Democrats who aid our enemies.
It's time for you to go, John. Just Go! For Heaven's sake, just Go Away!
When "MyDearJohnLetter.com" launched in May, 2007, we were swamped with emails--many of them from New Hampshire--from Republicans telling Sen. McCain "never again." Many of letters below come from people who, like me, voted for McCain in 2000, but have been betrayed by the Arizona senator time and time again.
--We've rejected his adamant support of amnesty for illegal immigrants.
--We were rightly insulted when he compared us to Jim Crow racists in the old South for opposing the Kennedy-McCain amnesty legislation.
--We were appalled by his rejection of tax cuts and his continued support for the death tax.
--We were disappointed that he led the "Gang of 14" who blocked pro-Constitution conservative judicial nominees from ever getting a simple up-or-down vote from the Senate.
--We are horrified that Sen. McCain would let a bomb go off at Fenway Park rather than use waterboarding on the terrorist who knew its location.
Now, John McCain is back. He's still anti-tax-cut, he's still pro-amnesty, he's still protecting terrorists by offering them equal standing with legitimate, uniformed US soldiers. In short, he's still John McCain.
But will the voters of New Hampshire remember who he really is? Or will they fall for the massive barrage of friendly coverage from the openly pro-McCain media?
When McCain's campaign was collapsing, this website went into hiatus, hoping our work was done. Unfortunately, the pro-McCain media establishment has pumped new life into his campaign. The Republican Party is yet again in danger of nominating the Democratic Party's favorite son: John McCain.
New Hampshire Republicans are free, of course, to nominate a candidate who almost ran as JOHN KERRY'S vice president in 2004. But since the media won't remind voters of McCain's record, we're here to make sure everyone who votes McCain makes an informed vote.
We are confident that, the more you know, the less likely you will vote for the man who has worked so hard to betray so many.
Has your heart been broken by a certain "straight-talking" politician? Did you vote for him to defend America in 2000, only to look up on CNN one day and see him arm-and-arm with Ted Kennedy, throwing our borders open to the very people who've been violating them?
Did you get that sinking feeling in your stomach when you realized that, this man you once supported, wants to give immediate legal status to illegals like the three recently caught plotting the attack on American soldiers at Ft. Dix? Did you feel betrayed to discover that people who've been committing tax fraud and using our tax-funded services illegally will not be required to pay ANY back taxes, thanks to this back-stabbing, border-abandoning politician?
Well, I've had enough. I voted John McCain in 2000 in South Carolina. I announced my support for McCain on the air. But I'm through. And I just sent him a "Dear John" letter to let him know it's over between us...and why.
If you're a former McCain supporter, this website is for you. Please write your (profanity-free, thank you) "Dear John" letter using this link. My friends and I here at www.mydearjohnletter.com will then happily post it here for others to read, and forward it on to the "Straight Talk Express" for Sen. McCain.
If you happen to live in an early caucus/primary state like Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina, please take a few minutes to compose your message to the Senator. If you don't, but you have friends or family in those states who feel the same way you do, please email them a link to this page and get them involved!
Oh, we're doing one other thing, too. You'll notice that on this page are links to ALL THE OTHER candidates in the 2008 GOP presidential primary. We're not endorsing any of them, nor are we vetting their positions on illegal immigration. However, we want to make it easy for you to let them know you're now "playing the field" as a voter once again. If you do choose to back one of his opponents, we'll be happy to let Sen. McCain know about it, too.
Thanks for speaking out! Thanks for defending our borders! Thanks for making a difference!
Sincerely,
Michael Graham
